South Africa President Nelson Mandela 1918-2013

By ancestry, I was born to rule. “Nelson Mandela”

We, the global citizens of this world, have been fortunate to witness and experience Madiba’s gracious, humbling presence of inspiration and peace. After serving 27 years in prison for being an active member for freedom from apartheid rule, Mandela was elected President of South Africa in April, 1994. Before being sentenced to life in prison, he read the following statement:

During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die”.
